ROLLS-ROYCE UNVEILS THE ONE-OF-ONE SPECTRE LUNAFLAIR: A MASTERPIECE OF BESPOKE ARTISTRY.

Inspired by a celestial phenomenon, where moonlight refracts through ice crystals to create a halo of technicolour brilliance. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed its latest masterpiece: the one-of-one Spectre Lunaflair. This extraordinary commission takes inspiration from a lunar halo, where light passing through high-altitude cirrus clouds forms a striking, rainbow-like circle around the moon. The result? A dazzling holographic paint finish, designed to capture this natural wonder and brought to life exclusively for a distinguished client in the United States. Creating the bespoke Lunaflair paint wasn’t a quick endeavour. It took over a year of development and testing, as Rolls-Royce’s team of Bespoke specialists experimented with different paint chemistry, application techniques, and base coats to get the perfect result. The final finish is achieved through seven meticulous layers of lacquer, including a pearlescent coat enriched with magnesium fluoride and aluminium flakes. This unique combination produces a deep metallic sheen under soft light while exploding into vibrant technicolour under direct sunlight - a homage to the lunar halo itself. This concept wasn’t just born from thin air; it was partially inspired by another Rolls-Royce Bespoke creation, the one-of-one Phantom Syntopia. Unveiled in 2023, the Phantom Syntopia boasted an iridescent, colour-shifting Liquid Noir finish that left a lasting impression on the client.

They were captivated by its dark, mirror-like beauty and requested a similarly ethereal, yet lighter interpretation for the Spectre Lunaflair, drawing on their fascination with the lunar halo effect. “This ongoing exchange of ideas between our clients and our Bespoke team fuels creativity and innovation,” says Martina Starke, Head of Bespoke Design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “Spectre Lunaflair exemplifies this ‘virtuous circle,’ where one commission inspires the next, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and ensuring we continue to deliver unparalleled value to those who trust us with their vision.” The stunning exterior is perfectly matched by an equally bespoke interior. Inside the Spectre Lunaflair, a palette of Navy Blue, White, and Peony Pink creates a visual representation of the lunar halo, wrapping around the seats, doors, and even the iconic Starlight Headliner. This theme extends to the dual-tone steering wheel, which features a Navy Blue outer rim and an Arctic White inner section—continuing the ethereal design throughout the car. In true Rolls-Royce fashion, this one-of-one creation will never be repeated. The Lunaflair paint finish is reserved solely for this commissioning client, ensuring that their vision remains as exclusive as the lunar phenomenon that inspired it.
