THE 10 FASTEST CARS AT GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED WERE A WEIRD AND WONDERFUL MIX OF AWESOMENESS!

00:23 Dodge Viper GTS-R

The annual Goodwood Festival of Speed attracts many of the world’s fastest and rarest cars, and there’s also a fair share of purpose-built cars too. What’s amazing to see is when some of the classic racecars post times quicker than modern cars that have all the latest tech and gadgets. This also highlights something quite interesting, the rapid evolution of the electric vehicle technologies - with the new propulsion tech offering up absolutely amazing performance with relative ease. If you’re into any form of motorsports, you will surely have heard about, or at least seen a vid via WhatApp showing the car from the privateer outfit McMurtry, in action. The electric fan car that’s been dubbed the baby Batmobile, actually called the Spierling, absolutely shattered the Goodwood hill’s record. Well, unless something unbelievably special comes along from an automaker we’ve never heard about with a new internal combustion engine made of stardust and Elon Musk’s sweat, the record shall forever be held by an electric vehicle.

In this top 10 list we find the Dodge Viper GTS-R, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, the Jaguar XJR-12D, Travis Pastrana’s Subaru GL Family Huckster and the March F1 car make up 50% of the top ten, all having internal combustion engines making the power. Electric vehicle tech was seen in the form of the First Corner FC1X, the mad Ford Pro Electric SuperVan, the Porsche 718 GT4 eperformance and the McMurtry Spierling taking up 4 spots with the amazing H24 Green GT showing off hydrogen power. That’s pretty much half of the field electrified. We’ll be surprised if there’s more than three non-electric cars in the 2023 top 10 list.

Take a look at the YouTube video from that famous hill in the United Kingdom showing the top ten fastest runs. The mix of cars is amazing, and it once again highlights the performance possible from electric vehicles - we'll put money on it that the new record time up the hill will never be matched by a car with an internal combustion engine: 10 fastest runs of Festival of Speed 2022 | Goodwood Road & Racing
