THE CATERHAM SEVEN CSR TWENTY IS THE AFFORDABLE TRACK WEAPON WE ALL NEED.

Caterham has long been the custodian of pure driving pleasure, even though that German brand claims the same. Crafting lightweight, minimalist sports cars that deliver unfiltered thrills. This year, the brand raises the bar with the Caterham Seven CSR Twenty, a limited-edition masterpiece marking two decades of the groundbreaking CSR chassis. With only 20 examples destined for the UK, this exclusive release is a celebration of Caterham’s enduring commitment to innovation, performance, and British craftsmanship. The Seven CSR Twenty is powered by a well-sorted 2.0-litre 16-valve Ford Duratec engine, producing 155 kW, which with the light weight means it can still hit 100 km/h in 4 seconds and it tops out at a smidge under 220 km/h. That’s more than fast enough in a car that sees you sitting only a few inches above the ground. The CSR chassis, famed for its fully independent double-wishbone rear suspension, ensures unmatched grip, comfort, and stability to make this new version of the Seven as enjoyable on a long-distance tour as it is on a spirited b-road session. Caterham’s engineers have refined the front inboard-mounted suspension, resulting in pinpoint steering precision which results in an engaging and confidence-inspiring drive that remains true to the spirit of the original Seven. Visually, the CSR Twenty is a head-turner. Available exclusively in the large chassis format, it accommodates not only the advanced suspension setup but also provides more space for passengers and luggage, enhancing its usability as a touring companion and will even fit some of the kids that were popular in school and now hide three six packs under their Polo golf shirts.

The exterior design looks much the same, and that’s not a bad thing. The visuals are enhanced by a two-tone Union Flag grille, bright red brake calipers, and bespoke Vulcan 15-inch alloys, finished in satin grey with diamond-cut details. These lightweight wheels not only reduce unsprung weight for improved handling but also add a contemporary touch to the iconic Seven styling. Buyers can only choose from two new body colours - Kinetic Silver and Dynamic Grey - both designed to shimmer under sunlight, while customisable highlight stripes and roll bar colours allow each owner to make their CSR Twenty uniquely theirs. Inside this racecar for the road, Caterham redefines comfort for the Seven lineup. The satin carbon dashboard, premium Muirhead leather, and CSR Twenty-exclusive branding create a cabin that feels both sophisticated and bespoke and minimalist at the same time. Modern touches like carbon fibre accents maintain a cohesive aesthetic, while practical upgrades, such as mohair weather equipment, add a touch of refinement to this otherwise unapologetically focused sports car. Every detail, from the embroidered Alcantara seats to the intricately quilted tunnel top, is crafted to make you smile and have bragging rights down the local. The ambient design means the CSR Twenty feels as special on a rainy Sunday drive as it does tearing through mountain passes.

Take a look at the YouTube video from Thomas that shows off the new CSR Twenty, at first glance it looks much like any other Caterham we've ever seen, but it really is different, swears: Caterham Seven CSR Twenty 2025 | Thomas Bondan Tyas
