THE CROWN JEWELS OF MCLAREN: MANSOUR OJJEH’S UNTOUCHABLE COLLECTION HITS THE AUCTION BLOCK

This isn’t just any McLaren collection - it’s the McLaren collection. The most complete, most exclusive, most obsessively curated fleet of McLaren road cars ever assembled. And it belonged to a man who didn’t just love McLaren - he helped build the brand it into the powerhouse it is today. Now, following his passing in 2021, the Mansour Ojjeh Collection is heading to auction. And to be blunt: it’s unlikely the world will ever see anything like it again.

From TAG to F1 Glory — The Mansour Ojjeh Legacy

Mansour Ojjeh wasn’t your average car collector. Born into wealth, sure, but it was what he did with it that changed motorsport history. As CEO of Techniques d’Avant Garde (TAG), he bought into Formula 1 in 1979 by sponsoring Williams - but it was in 1984, when he invested in McLaren and financed the TAG-Porsche turbo engine program, that the story really took off. Under his watchful eye and sharp business instincts, McLaren secured seven Constructors’ Championships, ten Drivers’ Championships, and launched what we now know as McLaren Automotive. He didn’t just steer from the sidelines - he helped blueprint the entire operation.

A Car Collection with a Soul

Mansour’s love for machinery wasn’t just about ownership - it was about vision. In his younger years, he drove icons like the Lamborghini Countach and Rolls-Royce Corniche, and even curated a dream Ferrari collection. But that all changed in 1988. Stuck at an airport with Ron Dennis and Gordon Murray after the Italian Grand Prix, the trio hatched a plan to build the greatest road car the world had ever seen. That car became the McLaren F1 - and Mansour didn’t just back it, he believed in it. Once McLaren Automotive was up and running, he sold off his prized Ferraris and started fresh - with one goal: to build the ultimate McLaren collection. And what he assembled is nothing short of awe-inspiring.

The One-of-One McLaren F1 – And the Colour No One Else Could Order

At the heart of the collection is a true unicorn: the final McLaren F1 ever produced, finished in a bespoke shade called Yquem - named after a legendary French dessert wine. Later renamed Mansour Orange by McLaren themselves, the hue was exclusive to him. No one else could order it. Period. Every car in the collection - from the F1 to the P1 GTR - was commissioned with final chassis numbers and the latest technical upgrades. That means they’re not just collector-grade; they’re the most evolved versions of each model ever made. Oh, and most of them? Delivery mileage only, stored and maintained under a special agreement with McLaren. No other collector in the world got that kind of treatment.

Preserved. Perfected. Peerless.

Aside from the F1, which shows just 1,810 km, and the P1 GTR that saw limited McLaren track use, every car in the Ojjeh Collection remains untouched - factory fresh, flawless, and waiting for its next custodian. But good luck keeping it all together: the estimated combined value is enough to make even McLaren themselves wince. This isn’t only an auction, it’s the end of an era, and the beginning of a new chapter for one of the greatest personal automotive collections ever assembled. A rolling tribute to a man whose passion, perfectionism, and vision helped shape the McLaren story - both on track and on the road. If you’ve got a few spare hundred million lying around, now’s the time to step up. Just don’t expect to get that Yquem paint code...
