THE RATHER IMPOSING BRABUS XL 800 CABRIO - OPEN-AIR POWER MEETS OFF-ROAD AMG ROYALTY.
When it comes to off-road luxury, BRABUS has always played in its own league - transforming Mercedes-Benz legends into machines that combine brute force, extreme capability, and jaw-dropping style. From humble beginnings in 1977, BRABUS carved a reputation for taking Mercedes-Benz vehicles and turning them into the ultimate expression of power and precision. Whether it’s the flagship S-Class, a G-Class icon, or one-off supercars, BRABUS has made a name for itself by marrying engineering genius with artisanal craftsmanship. Now, the Stuttgart-based tuning powerhouse has unleashed the BRABUS XL 800 CABRIO, based on the ever-iconic Mercedes-AMG G 63 (W 465), and it’s a 1-Second-Wow in every sense. This is more than a convertible; this thing is off-road couture, a rare fusion of untamed function and high-class elegance. Powered by a hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 588 kW and 1,000 Nm of torque, this open-top beast channels every ounce of fury to all four wheels through a SPEEDSHIFT TCT nine-speed automatic gearbox, fully operable via the BRABUS carbon paddle shifters.
The XL 800 CABRIO isn’t just about raw numbers. Its valve-controlled BRABUS sports exhaust system lets drivers choose between refined sophistication or a spine-tingling V8 symphony, giving the open-air experience a soundscape as dramatic as its silhouette. And the silhouette itself is unmistakable: the G-Class shape is sacrosanct, preserved through more than 500 custom-made components for the soft-top system, all engineered and tested to OEM standards to maintain torsional rigidity on par with the closed G 63. The result is a convertible capable of taking on the roughest terrain without ever looking ordinary. Not that one of these will ever be seen in the wild, nevermind doing off-road duty.
High-gloss sealed carbon fibre dominates the exterior, from the BRABUS WIDESTAR front fascia with enlarged air intakes to the signature Powerdome hood and carbon grille frame. Finished in the exclusive Pale Brown shade and stretching a commanding 210 cm wide, this is a G-Class you can’t ignore. Down low, BRABUS portal axle suspension ensures maximum traction and stability, while the Monoblock Z-HD “PLATINUM EDITION” 9.5Jx22 wheels with eight-bolt pattern, paired with 325/55 R 22 all-terrain tyres, turn the XL 800 CABRIO into a conqueror of even the harshest landscapes. For this Masterpiece edition, the portal axles are finished in a striking red that perfectly matches the bespoke interior.
Step inside, and the cabin delivers pure BRABUS theatre. The Masterpiece interior, upholstered in the finest red leather, mirrors the portal axle’s bold hue and is finished to an artisan level that few can match. The BRABUS “Shell” quilting on the seats, doors, side panels, footwells, and even floor mats provides comfort, ventilation, and drama, while the iconic BRABUS Double-B logo is embossed multiple times as a signature flourish. Every stitch, seam, and surface has been crafted to the brand’s meticulous standards, reinforcing BRABUS’s legacy of turning an already legendary vehicle into a bespoke work of art.
