UBER-LIMITED EDITION, 501ST, 1 OF 1 BUGATTI CHIRON PROFILéE IS WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE NEW CAR.
It wasn’t too long ago that we showed you one of the rarest modern Bugatti Chiron models, the uber-limited edition, one-of-one Chiron Profilée. What makes this car special is that it is actually a pre-series car developed for a small limited number special edition, but things happened. The plans didn’t materialise ending the limited edition run to just a single car. This makes it the only one of its kind, but at the same time, it’s also the 501st Chiron built and that makes it even more special because the production run for the Chiron was capped at 500 units. This is a one-of-one plus one. Being built for development, the car has a few miles on the odo, but it’s still technically brand new. At least you know that everything works as it should on the car. One of the main things about the car is that it would be available to anyone in the world as it was going to be sold via auction at RM Sothebys. Usually, a Chiron owner has to have owned a Bugatti of some kind before, but now even that 5-year-old that makes silly money on YouTube can buy it. That auction recently took place and the results are in, and as expected this Bugatti Chiron Profilée set a new record.
The Bugatti Chiron Profilée features revised aero with a new, distinctive horizontal split that fools the eye to divide the body in two. The colourway is exclusive to the Profilée and it’s been dubbed Argent Atlantique, the lower section is tinted in Bleu Royal Carbon and the wheels are also specially designed and wear Le Patron paint with polished aluminium accents. Inside there is woven leather across the centre console, around the dash, on the door panels, and rear wall inlay, a first for Bugatti. The steering and suspension was been revised and the well-known 7-speed DCT transmission has shorter gearing. The engine setup for the Bugatti Chiron Profilée is the iconic 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16 powerplant with over 1500 hp that can send the Profilée to 100 km/h in 2.3-seconds; 200 km/h in 5.5-seconds; and 300 km/h in 12.4-seconds making it the fastest accelerating Chiron to date. It really can do it too, hence the 396 kilometres on the odometer. So all of this is clearly special, and it reflects in the price it just sold for at RM Sothebys, setting a record for the most expensive new car to date. The hammer dropped at an eye-watering €9,792,500, or a monster R183 395 522 as of today’s exchange rate. That’s enough to get Eskom up and running. As for who bought it, it hasn’t been revealed yet, but our money is on Manny Khoshbin because he already has the world’s best modern Bugatti collection and the car would be a perfect addition to his garage. If not him, we’re clueless.
