WHY F1 IS LOSING DRIVERS TO INDYCAR

F1 is at the pinnacle of motorsport and features the most technologically advanced racecars in the world and not to mention the most expensive sport in the world as well.

It goes without saying that most drivers who aim to have a seat in F1 find that as the ultimate goal but unfortunately its not always up to the driver. F1 works by individual teams designing their very own cars and all using 1 of 4 premade drive trains from either Honda, Renault, Mercedes or Ferrari and all of these designs are governed strictly by the FIA.

However, in F1, teams with the most budget are usually the most competitive which is the most frustrating part for drivers.

In IndyCar, on the other hand, all the cars are exactly the same which leaves the winning team purely up to driver skill regardless of the budget which is why IndyCar is very attractive to drivers. IndyCar has seen drivers from F1 which include Kevin Magnussen, Romain Grosjean and Marcus Ericsson.
