WHY PIKES PEAK IS ONE OF THE TOUGHEST RACETRACKS IN THE WORLD

Pikes Peak is a commonly spoken about racing event, but did you know that it is actually one of the toughest racetracks in the world? Here is why...

The Pikes Peak hill climb event is one of the most popular auto events in the world. But, to its credit, it's also one of the worlds oldest racing events, with its first official race held in 1916.

Like in many other forms of motorsport, Pikes Peak drivers are amongst some of the bravest in the world – Pikes Peak is by no means for the faint of heart. Consider this; drivers travel at over 150mph up a mountainside with over 2000 foot drops and absolutely no barriers whatsoever! And, to make matters even more tricky, the entire course is over 12 miles long!

It goes without saying that Pikes Peak has seen some devastating crashes over the years, and has claimed the lives of seven drivers.

Take a look at the video below by the YouTube channel, Driver61, on Why Pikes Peak Is The World's Toughest Racetrack.
