ALPINE A290 RALLYE: AN ALL-ELECTRIC HOT HATCH BUILT TO TEAR UP RALLY STAGES, NOT THE PLANET

Alpine’s rally roots run deep, and now they’re branching into the future. Meet the Alpine A290 Rallye, a fully electric, track-honed evolution of the brand’s first production EV - ready to attack the tarmac and gravel with 220 hp of punch and zero tailpipe emissions. Unveiled ahead of its competition debut at the Rallye Rouergue Rodez Aveyron Occitanie (3–5 July 2025), the A290 Rallye is proof that rallying doesn't need to burn fossil fuels to raise heart rates. Developed by Alpine’s racing division at Viry-Châtillon and hand-assembled in the hallowed halls of the Manufacture Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé, this is a proper motorsport machine built to modern FIA specs - one that brings back the spirit of Jean Rédélé’s Alpine legacy, but with the plug-and-play punch of tomorrow.

A race-ready EV built to handle real stages

At its core, the A290 Rallye delivers 162 kW (220 hp) and 300 Nm of torque to the front wheels through a ZF limited-slip differential, providing razor-sharp traction and proper stage pace. Gearbox and electronic management systems have been tweaked to handle the pressures of competition, and the car gets Alpine Racing’s latest electric monitoring suite to keep everything on song. Helping it stick to the road (and leave rubber in the process) is a fully overhauled suspension setup, with ALP Racing dampers and 18-inch EVO Corse wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport A rubber. Braking is equally serious, with six-piston front calipers on 350 mm discs up front and 280 mm rears with single-piston units, all managed by a motorsport-spec ABS system. Oh, and yes - it has a hydraulic handbrake, because rally. And even though it's electric, Alpine hasn’t forgotten that sound is part of the magic. The A290 Rallye will emit a dynamic, speed-sensitive audio signature, so fans can hear it scream through the stages even if it’s not waking up the birds with an internal combustion roar.

To mark Alpine’s 70th anniversary, the A290 Rallye isn’t just a celebration of performance - it's also the launchpad for the brand’s new carbon-neutral customer racing range. That’s right - rallying with conscience. Alpine is kicking things off with a one-off rally challenge in France before the end of 2025, designed specifically for early A290 Rallye owners. These events will feature Alpine-themed paddocks, an exclusive Alpine Store classification system, and tailored support packages that channel Renault’s proven customer racing pedigree, complete with serious prize pools. Each venue will be equipped with dedicated EV charging infrastructure, powered by sustainable energy sources where possible. Whether it’s solar, wind, or other green solutions, Alpine’s not just racing toward trophies - it’s racing toward a smarter future. And the best part? The A290 Rallye is eligible for open-class competition, so owners can also go rogue and compete independently in national or regional rallies.

Safety and spec where it counts

The A290 Rallye isn’t just fast - it’s safe and FIA-compliant. A welded roll cage, Sabelt racing buckets, and the latest safety hardware ensure it meets the most up-to-date standards for crew protection. Priced at €59,990 (excl. VAT), or around R1,245,000 for a complete, painted, and assembled vehicle, the A290 Rallye offers a fully baked, no-fuss way into top-tier electric rallying. And it’s not just a track-day toy - it’s built for real-deal competition.

First stop: Goodwood. Then Mont-Blanc.

After its public debut at the Rallye Rouergue, the A290 Rallye is set to make its dynamic world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (10–13 July), where it’ll show off on one of motorsport’s most iconic stages. It’ll then head back to its home terrain for the Rallye Mont-Blanc Morzine (4–6 September)—a fitting venue for a brand that’s been carving through alpine passes since the ‘50s.
