BENTLEY UNVEILS BATUR CONVERTIBLE – A 16-UNIT MASTERPIECE MARKING THE FINALE OF THE ICONIC W12 ERA

Bentley has just pulled the covers off the Batur Convertible, the third coachbuilt creation of the modern era, with its global debut hosted in the opulent dunes of Bab Al Shams, Dubai. Just 16 individually numbered units will exist, making this an ultra-exclusive swan song for Bentley’s legendary W12 engine. Each Batur Convertible will house the most potent version of the marque’s iconic 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 ever made - hand-assembled and delivering 552 kW and 1,000 Nm of torque. This marks one of the final appearances of the engine that has defined Bentley's performance for over two decades. What you see in the metal here in Dubai isn’t just a car - it’s a rolling canvas. The Batur Convertible Engineering Car showcases the bespoke brilliance of Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house coachbuilding division, dripping in Midnight Emerald paint with exposed High Gloss Carbon Fibre detailing. The grille up front is finished in Satin Dark Titanium, but things get spicy in the matrix: a dramatic fade from Gloss Mandarin to Gloss Beluga draws the eye and screams confidence. Running through the centre of the body is the Batur Racing Stripe, finished in Gloss Porpoise and flanked by Gloss Mandarin accents - a subtle nod to the interior’s hand-matched hides, tying the exterior and cabin together in flawless symmetry. Inside, it’s a masterclass in bespoke British craftsmanship. The cockpit features a two-tone blend of Cumbrian Green and Porpoise leather, dialled up with Mandarin stitching and piping. And those tactile delights? Machined titanium Organ Stops and Bullseye vents bring precision engineering to your fingertips. The real showstopper, though, is Mulliner’s “guitar fade” veneer: a carefully blended transition from gloss Beluga to high gloss carbon fibre, laser-etched with the W12 engine’s unique acoustic signature - Bentley’s way of preserving the sound of an era.

Drawing from Bentley’s 100+ years of open-top motoring history, the Batur Convertible brings the drama of the Bacalar and the elegance of the Batur coupé into a new open-air expression. Mulliner’s design team embraced the freedom offered by a convertible to craft a distinctive two-seater layout featuring a dramatic wraparound cockpit, echoing the bespoke Bacalar’s design language. Each Batur Convertible is a one-of-one masterpiece, created in collaboration between client and designer using Mulliner’s advanced commissioning tools. Nothing is off the table - from hand-painted body accents to 3D-printed rose gold detailing, the sky’s not even the limit. Clients can dive into an infinite colour palette, explore satin, gloss, titanium or ombre finishes for exterior brightware, and even opt for graduated contrast grille fades for that extra visual pop. Inside, the wow factor continues with 3D-printed rose gold used on key tactile elements like the Drive Mode Selector, Organ Stops, and even the steering wheel. These exclusive components are crafted by expert goldsmiths in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter - where centuries of tradition meet cutting-edge tech. The Batur Convertible will be built entirely by hand over several months at Bentley’s carbon-neutral factory in Crewe, England, where Mulliner’s craftsmen ensure every detail is obsessively perfected. With 552 kW and 1,000 Nm on tap, courtesy of upgraded turbos, intercoolers, and recalibrated intakes, the final W12 is a celebration of two decades of innovation. Compared to its earliest iteration, the W12 now makes 40% more power while sipping 25% less fuel. A fitting finale to a powerplant that’s been the heartbeat of Bentley’s modern rebirth.

Only 16. One W12 farewell. Unlimited imagination.
