TOYOTA ADDS A CITRUS-INFUSED KICK TO THE GR LINEUP WITH THE GR86 YUZU EDITION - MUCH LIKE!

Toyota’s driver-focused sports coupe just got a whole lot punchier - and a whole lot yellower. Meet the 2026 Toyota GR86 Yuzu Edition: a head-turning, grin-inducing, limited-run homage to the tuner culture roots that spawned it. Named after the vivid yellow citrus fruit, this special edition GR86 draws inspiration from the OG fan-favorite Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 - because nostalgia tastes better when served loud. Based on the GR86 Premium grade, the Yuzu Edition comes dressed in a retina-searing Yuzu Yellow paint job paired with matte-black 18-inch wheels and aggressive blacked-out accents. Inside, it’s a clean but spicy mix of black Ultrasuede® sport seats with yellow perforation and stitching that runs across the wheel, parking brake, and door trim like an electric highlighter. But it’s not all show and no go - Toyota made sure this thing bites. Standard-fit Brembo® brakes and SACHS dampers sharpen the car’s reflexes while keeping that signature GR86 playfulness alive. Want more spice? Optional accessories include a GR-branded cat-back exhaust and a full aero body kit for those who believe subtlety is overrated. Under the hood, it’s business as usual - but we’re not mad about it. A naturally aspirated 2.4-liter boxer engine delivers 168 kW (228 hp) and 250 Nm of torque, launching the Yuzu Edition from 0-100 km/h in just over 6 seconds. Peak torque kicks in at a punchy 3,700 rpm, delivering the kind of throttle response that makes canyon carving feel like second nature. Choose between a slick 6-speed manual for the purists or a 6-speed automatic with steering-wheel paddles and a high-capacity torque converter. Either way, a Torsen limited-slip diff keeps the rear planted when you get cheeky mid-corner.

Beneath the skin, the GR86’s already impressive chassis gets the full GR treatment. Diagonal cross-members and structural adhesives reinforce the front, while a full-ring rear frame and high-strength fasteners keep things tight at the back. It’s light, too - just 1,275 kg in manual guise - thanks to an aluminum bonnet, front fenders, and roof. That means snappy handling, confidence on the limit, and a whole lot of road feel. The Performance Package - standard on the Yuzu Edition and optional for other grades - includes the Brembo brakes and SACHS dampers. Those bright red four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers clamp down on beefy rotors while the nitrogen-filled dampers soak up everything from potholes to late apexes with equal grace. Inside, Toyota kept it focused. A low-slung cockpit with a digital gauge cluster, leather-wrapped steering wheel, piano-key switches, and LED HVAC dials bring modern usability to the old-school experience. Track mode and VSC-off are just a button press away for the manual crew, while automatic drivers get Normal, Sport, and Snow modes for a touch of all-weather adaptability. The 2026 GR86 lineup comes in three trims: GR86, GR86 Premium, and the limited-run GR86 Yuzu Edition. No matter the grade, every GR86 stays true to the Gazoo Racing mantra: keep it light, keep it sharp, and keep it fun. There's no word about this limited edition GR being seen outside of the USA, which sucks because with the tariff fun going on, it would be a bang for buck option here, way better than in the good old US of A.

Take a look at the YouTube video from the people who provide all the details and values of cars for everyone in the States. I guess that means nothing here in SA, but the fact that they know cars and values does make a review from them worth a closer look: 2026 Toyota GR 86 Yuzu Edition | First Look | Kelley Blue Book
