BLACK BADGE GHOST ÉKLEIPSIS PRIVATE COLLECTION IS OPULENCE AT IT'S FINEST.

When you’re at a corporate event attended by captains of industry and other 1%-ers and the conversation turns to cars, things are a little different to what you hear when you’re chilling around a braai with mates. The cars that get mentioned are usually range-topping luxury cars and plenty of well-known brands and models pop up, but eventually, someone will drop the Rolls-Royce bomb and after that, it’s rather hard for anyone else to show off unless they also have one of the luxury British coachbuilders cars in their fleet too. While there are ridiculously expensive supercars and hypercars with amazing features and spec lists, none are quite on the level of what Rolls-Royce offers. Other automakers talk about luxury while Rolls-Royce talks about opulence. The Goodwood-based automaker has been associated with the best of the best automobiles, the absolute best in luxury and opulence. When someone buys a Rolls-Royce it tells the world that they’ve made it, and that they’re happy to drop a cool R15 000 on a suit. Rolls-Royce cars are built to much higher standards than what you’ll usually see from other automakers that dabble in the world of luxury cars. The materials used are the best of the best, and with everything being hand-built and assembled by experienced experts, it means the quality control is phenomenal. It takes roughly 6 months to hand-assemble a Rolls-Royce with a team of expert craftsmen which sees in excess of 450 hours of labour. With the level of expertise, it makes sense then that when you add up the hourly rates, the end product will cost, and cost a lot. Over and above the regular Rolls-Royce models, the company often creates special collections that are commissioned by high-flying clientele, resulting in an even more special model.

This time round Rolls-Royce introduces the Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection. This stunning offering takes inspiration from a solar eclipse and so just like the Phantom Syntopia, there’s some very special and intricate work carried out on the rooflining. “With Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis, we draw inspiration from a total solar eclipse: a seldom-seen and spellbinding phenomenon that reflects the rarity and beauty of Rolls-Royce Private Collections. In capturing the magic of this celestial alignment, our Bespoke Collective of designers, engineers and craftspeople have once again elevated contemporary craftsmanship, with a landmark series of exquisite details that project the marque’s culture of ambition and excellence. We are exceptionally proud to present these motor cars to 25 of our most significant clients around the world – it is these individuals who inspire greatness within our brand, and who drive us to create ever more bold and richly detailed expressions of modern luxury.” says Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The animated Starlight Headliner is amazing, as the doors close and the engine is fired up, the ‘stars’ in the Starlight Headliner darken to begin an animated 31-second sequence mimicking a solar eclipse. A circle of 940 ‘stars’ is formed, representing the bright corona of light around the lunar silhouette, and it’s surrounded by a further 192 illuminating ‘stars’ as you’d see in the sky during daylight just like a total solar eclipse. To add to the effect, the fascia features 1,846 laser-etched ‘stars’ in a symbolic timeline of a total eclipse, taking a single coachbuilder over 100 hours to complete. The composition culminates in a Bespoke timepiece incorporating a brilliant-cut 0.5-carat diamond to create a ‘Diamond Ring’ effect. There’s a lot more that makes the Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection special, including being limited to just 25 units. Also, in typical Rolls-Royce fashion, all 25 already have owners who just need to wait for delivery.

Take a look at the YouTube video that shows us more of the amazing details of the new Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection, an example of luxury and opulence that mimics a total solar eclipse through the ingenious use of lighting and things we can't afford. This bespoke commission from Rolls-Royce is limited to just 25 units, and all have been allocated to owners already: Rolls Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Revealed | DPCcars
