CHEAP VS EXPENSIVE COILOVERS: ARE THEY WORTH IT?
Are expensive parts always better than cheap ones? It's time for a test! Cheap VS expensive coilovers: Are they worth it?
Not all of us has the cash to go big when purchasing new parts for our cabbies but, instead of saving up for the more expensive parts, most will opt for something cheaper and withing their current budget.
So, the question remains, are more expensive parts worth their weight in gold, or is it a wiser choice to get the cheaper versions? In this case, we're talking coilovers, and the chaps over at Donut Media put this question to the test.
As part of their HiLow series, the guys had this to say: "We bought two identical Nissan 350z's and have been modifying them to be FUN daily drivers that you can take to the track. James Pumphery and Zach Jobe's 350z gets the expensive parts, while Nolan Sykes and Aaron Parker's gets the cheap ones. Then we test them to see which components are actually worth spending the money on."
In their video below, the Hi Team unbox and install a set of "fully adjustable KW Suspension V3s", while the dudes in the Lo Team do the same with a set of nameless eBay ones.
The show isn't just about the install, though, they also give us the science behind what they're and then put the coilovers to the ultimate handling test.
