FIRST F1 RACE OF THE 2022 SEASON - RISE OF FERRARI, FALL OF RED BULL!

The first F1 race of 2022 has already come and gone and the results clearly show Ferrari having the pace, but what happened to Red Bull?

Qualifying on this past Saturday clearly showed that Ferrari had incredible pace, Red Bull was not too far behind either with only a few tenths of a second which made both drivers, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez as well as team principal Christian Horner feel quite comfortable.

Ferrari, on the other hand, showed Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sianz Jr. had incredible pace with the top 5 qualifying positions being:

  • Ferrari - Leclerc LEC. 1:30.558.
  • Red Bull - Verstappen VER. 1:30.681.
  • Ferrari - Sainz SAI. 1:30.687.
  • Red Bull - Perez PER. 1:30.921.
  • Mercedes AMG - Hamilton HAM.

Although Ferrari did incredibly well in the qualifying, they knew that the real test was going to be on the following day, on race day.

After lights out on Sunday, Charles Leclerc had an incredible start and managed to stay ahead of Verstappen who stayed in second for the majority of the race.

After the intense fight between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, on the last couple of laps, Max Verstappen experienced engine trouble and was forced to retire the car. Then it was up to Sergio Perez to keep Lewis Hamilton at bay and score some points for both himself and Red Bull, unfortunately, however, he too experienced catastrophic engine difficulties and was out of the race at the very last minute.

This resulted in a 1 - 2 win for Ferrari, with Lewis Hamilton taking a podium finish in 3rd place.

Clearly, Red Bull and Mercedes AMG have some serious work to do if they want to fight for the 2022 championship against each other and take on Ferrari who, at this point, is practically unstoppable.
