JAY LENO BREAKS BUGATTI CHIRON QUARTER-MILE RECORD IN A TESLA
Comedian and car show host Jay Leno set out to beat the record-holding quarter-mile time of the 1,479 BHP W16 Bugatti Chiron production car time of 9.4 seconds!
Leno got behind the wheel of the new Tesla Model S Plaid that is equipped with the new 3 carbon-sleeve motors and lower drag coefficient.
After a couple of tries, Jay Leno managed a quarter-mile time of just 9,247 seconds which stole the record from the Bugatti Chiron by quite some time!
However, this record only lasted a short while as on the same day, Tesla's professional test driver gave it a go and managed to get a time of 9,234 seconds which yet again broke the record, but also stole the spotlight from Jay Leno.
Leno had this to say:
"Come to think of it, I did have a meatball sandwich for lunch, and this professional driver can't be more than 120 pounds soaking wet," Leno said. "I mean, one-hundredth of a second. Come on, I was robbed!”
