LAMBORGHINI RETIRES ITS ICONIC V12 IN STYLE WITH THE RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME INVENCIBLE AND AUTENTICA
Here’s another one that will have those 1-percenter car collectors drooling, a pair of limited edition Lamborghinis created to celebrate the retirement of the company’s very successful V12 supercar era and usher in the age of the hybrid. To make it cooler, one is a coupe and the other is a roadster and they have been named Invencible and Auténtica. “The V12 engine is one of the pillars of our history and our marque’s success,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO. “As we head towards embracing a new era of hybridization at the heart of our Cor Tauri strategy, this is the Lamborghini way of celebrating the naturally aspirated V12 with two one-off vehicles that perfectly represent our concept of excellence in personalization.” The amazing pair was styled by Lamborghini Centro Stile drawing on a sporting character inspired by the race track to further enhance the iconic lines and styling of the ‘regular’ factory-spec cars. The design pays homage to the Sesto Elemento in weight and a large rear wing, as well as the Reventón with its unique aeronautical style, and lastly the Veneno for its aerodynamic perfection.
Both cars share the Aventador’s carbon fibre monocoque, the bonnet is based on the Essenza SCV12, air intakes like the Sesto Elemento and that brilliant normally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 with 574 kW and 720 Nm of torque coupled to a 7-speed ISR gearbox, four-wheel drive, and the Lamborghini Dynamic Steering system. The Invencible coupé has a subtle contrast between the red and the carbon-look elements and has Rosso Efesto bodywork with Rosso Mars calipers and single-nut wheels. The classic scissor doors feature a pair of hexagonal tricolours paying tribute to the Italian flag, and it’s also found on the door linings and steering wheel. The Auténtica roadster features Grigio Titans paint with details in Matt Black and a Giallo Auge livery on the front splitter, the motorsport-derived rear wing and two domes with integrated rollbars, inspired by open-topped racers.
