MRS BLOCK TO TAKE ON PIKES PEAK IN THE ALL-ELECTRIC BLOCK-EDITION HYPERCRAFT ECHO

While most of the motorsport-loving planet was aware of Ken Block and his amazing racing exploits in various motorsport disciplines, not many are aware that his wife also races. Most of us know about his daughter, Lia Block, thanks to loads of content showing her progress of learning to race and then obliterating competition in a bunch of versus races where she piloted the Hoonicorn Mustang. Lucy Block, Ken’s wife, has been a consistent competitor in the popular and highly competitive American Rally Association National championship at the wheel of a properly sorted Ford Fiesta Rally3. It’s not really a surprise if you think about it. With that experience, Lucy will be taking on Pikes Peak in June this year with a proper official race entry. Lia will also be seen tackling the famed hill, but she will only be doing an exhibition run in the Hoonipigasus Porsche that Ken had entered last year. His race was cut short when the car experienced engine troubles, but the car is sorted and ready for a run. It will be an exhibition run purely because the Hoonipigasus isn’t a car made for fun, it’s a serious piece of kit with 1 400 hp on tap and without experience on the hill it is rather dangerous. So back to Lucy, her race entry will see her at the wheel of an all-electric, purpose-built racecar.

The Hypercraft ECHO set-up for Lucy looks amazing, it features a livery that’s a clear nod to the ones seen on Ken’s cars over the years, and it’s numbered 430, which is another nod to Ken’s career. The livery also features a section featuring the Block family signatures, which is great because as much as Ken was known by the world as a racer, he was a family man first. The ECHO has been entered in the top-tier Unlimited Class, and that makes perfect sense because the car is quite the little monster being equipped with Hypercraft’s EV drive system that generates 225 kW with a healthy 500 Nm of torque at 12 000 RPM. The ECHO has an advanced energy storage system with three 6.2kWh Hypercraft battery packs combining for 18.6kWh total energy storage. The best part is that this whole package tips the scales at just 612 kg. Can you imagine 500 Nm in a racecar with almost no weight? Daaaaamn son! Even cooler, you can buy one of these Block-edition ECHOs from Hypercraft USA toys via sierra-cars.com, but just seven will be made available. If you miss out on one of the seven, you can always buy the normal version that’s cool, just a little less so. In honor of his contributions to the sport, a significant portion of each SIERRA ECHO Block Edition sold — $43,000 in total — will be donated to the Forty Three Institute (43i), the foundation, established by the Block family to help empower aspiring racers who face barriers in pursuing their dreams due to limited resources. Ahhh, nice!

Take a look at the YouTube video showing off what looks like an absolutely amazing car to thrash around, the all-electric Echo by Hypercraft, which will be campaigned by Lucy Block in this year's Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. She will join daughter Lia Block who will be doing an exhibition run in the Hoonipigasus Porsche: SIERRA x Hypercraft | SIERRA
