THE 2022 WOMEN’S RUGBY WORLD CUP GETS LAND ROVER SUPPORT IN NZ

With the 2022 instalment of the Rugby World Cup tournament almost upon us, we’re seeing more and more of it in the news, and this time around the reason is a great partnership between the RWC and Land Rover. “We are delighted to announce our partnership with the New Defender for Rugby World Cup 2021. Forging meaningful partnerships that are purpose-driven is extremely important to us and we are particularly excited that the Defenders of Tomorrow mascot programme will engage and inspire our future rugby generation to act and deliver impact on and off the pitch,” says Sally Horrox, Director of Women’s Rugby at World Rugby. This comes after the announcement of a fleet of plug-in electric hybrid Land Rover Defenders are set to support the tournament operations in New Zealand during the massive event.

With Land Rover’s amazing 25-year commitment to support rugby at all levels around the world, the automaker has expanded its reach to include the women’s tournament where it will feature as a Worldwide Partner with the Defender nameplate. These kinds of partnerships not only showcase the excitement of the women’s game, but are also purpose-driven to help attract new interested audiences. There will be fifty-two youth mascots selected as ‘Defenders of Tomorrow’, these children will be from across New Zealand and beyond. The chosen ones will have shown their passion and dedication to changing the world for the better, and they will actively influence and determine the post-tournament legacy for Defender and Rugby World Cup.

“Today is a new milestone on the Defender rugby journey, as we announce our increased support to the whole of the sport. We have long committed to the game’s grassroots, helping introduce thousands of boys and girls around the world to rugby. Now it’s time for Defender to deepen that commitment by helping women’s rugby get the recognition it deserves. We are excited to fully integrate the New Defender – which combines adventurous spirit and capability with innovation and sustainability – into our Rugby World Cup partnerships, starting this year.” says Laura Wood, Head of Global PR Brand and Partnerships, Land Rover
