THE DIABLO IS BACK! SORT OF, IN THE FORM OF THE SUPER SEXY ECCENTRICA PROTOTYPE.

An event was recently held at Garage 21 in Milan to unveil this amazing Eccentrica prototype based on the Lamborghini Diablo that was the star supercar in the 90s. The restomod is the brainchild of Emanuel Colombini, a passionate and dynamic entrepreneur who’s CEO of the Colombini Group. The man is also a classic car collector with a strong connection with Lamborghini, hence the project you see here. Emanuel Colombini stated, “As a child I remember seeing the red Diablo in the first release of the Quattroruote magazine. It was love at first sight! It’s hard for other cars to leave such a strong impression on me. Later, after having had the chance to drive the GT version, I decided to pay homage to it, conceiving of a restomod company built around this project. At its essence lies the idea that the hypercar and supercar market will require a product with a more authentic soul, precisely like the sensations drivers experienced while driving these speedsters.” Together with a great team that includes design firm BorromeodeSilva for the design work, Pirelli for the tyres, Brembo for the brakes, Marantz for the audio system, Capristo for the exhaust system, and Alcantara (an apt name) for the upholstery - all under the Eccentrica banner. The base for the restomod is an early 90s Diablo from the first production series first introduced in January 1990. The name "Eccentrica" comes from the late-Latin word "Eccentrus", meaning a position far from the centre and the inspiration comes from Ptolemaic astronomy, which features deferent motions and orbits, specifically, eccentric ones. The Diablo Eccentrica will feature 19 distinctive models.

The bodywork of the Diablo car was completely revised except for the windshield, the original proportions were taken to the extreme highlighting the aggressive looks and associated handling, and stability. The length and height remain the same and the overall volume of the front was designed as a wedge in a trapezoidal shape. The side skirts were redesigned to include an aerodynamic fin, the scissor doors remain, and there are new carbon bumpers, two air intakes for the main radiators, technologically updated taillights, pop-down headlights, air scoops on the roof, and a host of 3D printed titanium components.n The original 5.7-litre V12 has been reworked with modern bits and pieces and is rated at 550 hp with 600 Nm of torque. The car is made for the street, but will also be at home on track, it’s been claimed that the Eccentrica will be able to do a standing start from 0-100 km/h in as little as 3,5 seconds and will have a top speed of a healthy 335 km/h. The 19 planned models will be uniquely tailored for the confirmed buyers making each one unique, and the restomod process will take between 16 and 18 months, and that includes testing in various conditions. As is the norm with restomods on this scale, it doesn’t come cheap, not by a long shot. The price released is a whopping €1 200 000, which in this country is over R24 000 000, and we’re not even sure if that includes the purchase price of the base Diablo.

Take a look at the YouTube video the details the ins and outs of this amazing recreation of the early 90s favourite that was plastered over kids and workshop walls the world over - the angular and amazing Lamborghini Diablo, but this time it comes from Eccentrica Cars in the form of an absolutely stunning restomod: Lamborghini Diablo Restomod By Eccentrica Cars | DPCcars
