THE NEW MERCEDES-AMG S-CLASS - NOW WITH BESPOKE MANUFAKTUR OPTIONS

The Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG S-Class cars are brilliant, pretty much the peak of automotive excellence all wrapped up in a saloon with all the right curves in all the right places, and in the right spec are also stupendously fast. While there has always been an extensive option list available for these cars made up of all manner of tech and comfort features, but if you wanted to spec it all fancy like with the C-Class AMG cars, you’d have to turn to the aftermarket world. Luckily things have changed over at Mercedes-Benz and so no new C-Class buyers have access to the MANUFAKTUR side of the automaker. MANUFAKTUR gets all capital letters because it’s the individualisation range for exclusive paint finishes that aren’t seen in the regular brochure, quality interior options are also available to choose from. These options make use of selected special materials and the craftsmanship is at the usual luxurious Mercedes-Benz standard. The easiest way to identify a new Mercedes-Benz that’s been through the MANUFAKTUR process is by colour. You can usually tell when the shiny new Merc you’re looking is wearing one of the custom colours from the livelier palette. In the case of the S-Class, there are two solid paint options,  MANUFAKTUR Vintage Blue Uni and MANUFAKTUR Silicon Grey Uni, and for those wanting a little more pizzaz, there are four metallic options, too: MANUFAKTUR Graphite Metallic, MANUFAKTUR Mystic Blue Metallic, MANUFAKTUR Olive Metallic and MANUFAKTUR Rubellite Red Metallic. The new options also cater for fans of matt-finish paint jobs in the form of MANUFAKTUR Night Black Magno and MANUFAKTUR Kalahari Gold Magno.

The Interior Package includes the front and rear seats finished in MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather with elaborate diamond quilting and the AMG emblem embossed in the front headrests. Nappa leather in MANUFAKTUR colour is also used for the armrests and centre panels in the doors, the centre console including centre armrests and the lower section of the instrument panel. One of the coolest options under the Interior Package is the AMG Performance MANUFAKTUR steering wheel covered in Nappa leather, colour-matched to the chosen interior theme - and it’s done by hand too just like an AMG engine build. The package also includes high-pile black floor mats that have an embroidered AMG logo and Nappa leather piping, again to match the interior theme. Illuminated door sill trims show the AMG logo with a MANUFAKTUR-exclusive pattern. The centre console features MANUFAKTUR lettering in a shiny chrome finish, a perfect place to collect unwanted fingerprints, but it does emphasise the quality craftsmanship. There is also embroidered, handwritten MANUFAKTUR lettering on the rear shelf. If owners want things to be a bit more overstated, the Emblem Package in platinum or gold will do it - the floor mats are embroidered with the AMG logo in the respective colours and the ambient lighting at all four doors features an animated projection of the AMG logo. In total there are five MANUFAKTUR colour combinations for the new Interior Package for the Mercedes-AMG S-Class: MANUFAKTUR Yacht Blue/Black, MANUFAKTUR Nut Brown/Black, MANUFAKTUR Deep White/Black, MANUFAKTUR Truffle Brown/Black and MANUFAKTUR Pastel Yellow/Black. There’s no pricing as yet, but for this level of options, it’s not going to be cheap.

Take a look at the YouTube video from a year back showing why Mercedes-Benz sees the latest incarnation of the S-Class as one of the world's best-engineered cars. It's not aimed at the hooligan crowd, but with said crowd also ageing gracefully, it makes sense to offer a way to customise these cars over and above the regular options available for them by creating new options through its bespoke MANUFAKTUR programe: The New S-Class | Engineering the World’s Best Car | Mercedes-Benz
