THE TOYOTA GR SUPRA JR ROADSTER FINALLY MAKES IT'S FIRST PASS - AT THE HANDS OF TOP FUEL DRIVER ANTRON BROWN. NICE.
It was just the other day we reminded y’all that there’s a half-size Toyota Supra dragster out there, and in a strange coincidence, it’s back in NHRA news. Toyota has been collaborating with NHRA for over 20 years, with those previous drag racing collaborations leading to the development of the car you see in action here, the GR Supra Jr. Roadster, a half-sized Supra dragster designed by Toyota and TRD, U.S.A. for junior drag racing. As we’ve mentioned before, the Jr. Roadster was developed for the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League to encourage families to involve their kids in drag racing at a young age. The car has a shorter wheelbase than the dragster, making it easier to transport in the bed of a Tundra. According to Paul Doleshal, group manager of Toyota Racing, "The motivation behind developing the GR Supra Jr. Roadster nearly two years ago was primarily around the concept of giving families an alternative to the already-popular Jr. Dragster class within NHRA."
Take a look at the YouTube video, albeit very short, of the very first proper pass of the Toyota GR Supra Jr Dragster in public at the hands of previous development driver and NHRA Top Fuel driver Antron Brown: Antron Brown makes FIRST pass in the Toyota GR Supra Jr Roadster | NHRA
