THE WICKED FORD F-150 RAPTOR R PROJECT VEHICLE - A 900+ HP APEX PREDATOR UNLEASHED AT SEMA

The Ford F-150 Raptor has been ruling deserts for over a decade, chewing through dunes and devouring trails like it’s built for apocalypse duty. But just when you thought Ford had maxed out the madness with the 700 hp (515 kW) Raptor R, the Blue Oval’s skunkworks rolled into SEMA and said, “Hold my Whipple.” Welcome to the F-150 Raptor R Project Vehicle - a factory-backed monster packing over 900 horsepower, engineered and tested by Ford Performance Parts to showcase just how far the ultimate Raptor can go when you unleash it without limits. At its core, the Raptor R already packs one of Ford’s wildest engines - a 5.2-litre supercharged V8, borrowed from the Mustang Shelby GT500 and tuned for desert duty. That means 515 kW and 867 Nm of torque straight out the gate, with the soundtrack of a sandstorm mixed with a thunderclap. But for SEMA, Ford Performance decided “fast” wasn’t fast enough. They bolted on a 3.0-litre Whipple supercharger kit, cranked up the boost, and turned the already rowdy Raptor R into a 900+ hp (662+ kW) desert dominator. The result is a pickup that can shame sports cars, laugh at sand dunes, and still tow your toys home afterwards.

“This is for the enthusiast who looks at the F-150 Raptor R and says, ‘How can we take it further?’,” said Matt Simpson, Executive Director of Accessories and Personalisation at Ford. “We wanted to create a blueprint for the ultimate factory-backed Raptor - immense power, rugged capability, and absolutely no compromises.”

Beyond brute force, the Raptor R’s off-road DNA is still the real deal. Its five-link rear suspension, 24-inch coil springs, and FOX Live Valve dampers make light work of punishing terrain. Those shocks read the ground hundreds of times a second, adjusting damping on the fly for that perfect balance between control and chaos. With 13 inches of travel up front and 14.1 at the rear, this thing doesn’t just handle the desert - it owns it. Because SEMA is as much about looks as it is about lunacy, the project truck isn’t shy. It rocks a gloss carbon fibre appearance package, a Borla® Extreme cat-back exhaust with black chrome tips, and sits on METHOD Black wheels that mean business. Lighting the path ahead - and everything around it - is a full RIGID® LED suite, including hood hinge-mounted lights, off-road driving beams, and underbody rock lights for when the night crawl gets real.

When Ford launched the third-generation F-150 Raptor R, it called it the “ultimate off-road desert Raptor.” That was true - until this. The Raptor R Project Vehicle is proof that Ford’s performance division still knows how to raise hell while keeping it Built Ford Tough. It’s not just a show truck,  it’s a glimpse into what happens when Ford engineers and enthusiasts speak the same language: horsepower, torque, and audacity.
