A FERRARI 296 GTS WITH NOVITEC'S N-LARGO TREATMENT IS WHERE IT'S AT!

NOVITEC, for the uninitiated, was founded in 1989 and has established itself as a premier automotive tuning company, renowned for enhancing the performance and aesthetics of high-end Italian sports cars. Initially focusing on Fiat and Alfa Romeo vehicles, the company expanded its expertise to include Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, and even Rolls-Royce models. In 2003, NOVITEC launched its Ferrari-specific division, NOVITEC Rosso, marking its entry into the realm of Ferrari tuning. The debut project involved the Ferrari 360 Modena, which received a significant performance boost through a twin-supercharger system. From there, NOVITEC Rosso undertook the enhancement of the Ferrari F430. The initial modification resulted in a 468 kW variant, which was later upgraded to a 520 kW model, and they looked just right too. One of NOVITEC's hallmark features is the use of black taillights, first introduced on the Ferrari 360 Modena. These custom-made lights have become a distinctive element in the world of Ferrari tuning. When Ferrari builds a drop-top supercar, it’s already a work of art. But when NOVITEC gets its hands on one, things go from impressive to utterly unhinged. Enter the NOVITEC N-LARGO, a wild, widebody transformation of the Ferrari 296 GTS, turning Maranello’s hybrid twin-turbo V6 into a 638 KW, road-going missile. And if you prefer your insanity with a fixed roof, don’t worry - the N-LARGO treatment is available for the 296 GTB as well, as seen here in September last year.n Designed by German maestro Vittorio Strosek, the N-LARGO package adds an extra 12 cm of width, pushing the car’s stance to a monstrous 208 cm. Every piece of the aero kit is sculpted from lightweight carbon fibre, ensuring it’s as functional as it is dramatic. Wind tunnel-tested enhancements include a reworked front fascia with an exposed carbon lip spoiler, reshaped front fenders with integrated air vents, and a sculpted frunk lid that generates additional front-end downforce. The rocker panels seamlessly merge into the flared rear fenders, which house an outrageous set of staggered wheels - 21 inches up front and 22 inches at the back. These NOVITEC NF11 NL alloys, crafted by Vossen, come in a mind-boggling 72 different finishes.

The aggression doesn’t stop at the aesthetics. Under the hood, NOVITEC’s performance upgrades for the twin-turbo V6 unlock an extra 38 horsepower, taking the total system output to a staggering 638 kW. A free-flowing exhaust system, crafted from stainless steel or ultra-lightweight Inconel - the same heat-resistant alloy used in Formula 1 - helps the engine breathe better while delivering an exhaust note that ranges from refined to riotous, thanks to an optional active valve system. For those who like their excess with a side of opulence, there’s even a version with 999 fine gold plating. As if that wasn’t enough, the N-LARGO rides 35 mm lower than stock, thanks to specially tuned sports springs. And because scraping this masterpiece on a speed bump would be a crime, an optional front lift system can raise the nose by 40 mm at the push of a button, automatically resetting at speeds over 80 km/h. Inside, the cabin is a playground for bespoke luxury, with limitless combinations of Alcantara and leather in any colour imaginable. Whether you want race-ready minimalism or a lounge-like interior dripping in exotic materials, NOVITEC’s artisans will make it happen. NOVITEC stuff ain’t cheap though, but that’s expected when you look at the quality of work the company is able to produce. We’re not 100 % sure just how much this complete N-LARGO package for the Ferrari 296 GTS will set you back, but as of last year in September when a similar package was released for the Ferrari 296 GTB, it was rumoured to cost in the region of $100,000. In this here country of ours with the fantastically strong currency and awesome exchange rate, you’re looking at a cool R1,850,000. When the base car costs in the region of R7,000,000, that makes for a very expensive upgrade package.
