CARROLL SHELBY’S 100TH BIRTHDAY RESULTS IN LIMITED EDITION 750 HP CENTENNIAL EDITION COMPLETE WITH BRANDED STETSON.
Carroll Shelby was pretty much the face of modified Fords, so much so that his company Shelby American brought out a whole host of approved, modified Ford models. For many years, dating back to 1965, if you spotted the Shelby badge on a Ford you just knew it would be something special. The man may have gone to the big racetrack in the sky in 2012, but his legacy lives on, and the latest not to the American hero is the limited edition Mustang GT called the Centennial Edition. This new model has the 2023 Mustang GT as its base, and it’s been given a bunch of cool details along with a healthy power bump all to honour what would have been Carroll’s 100th birthday. Only 100 models will be produced, which means it’s unlikely that any will be seen outside of the States, but you never know because there are loads of people across the world that are die-hard fans with stupid amounts of disposable income and money talks. They have said a few will be available through official mod shops around the world, but we all know how the US sees the rest of the world.
This Centennial Edition is a proper head-turner, that black-on-black theme has always been a winner in the car scene. Buyers can choose a colour as well as whether they want a hard top or a drop-top in manual or auto, but a manual black hard top is the way to go if you ask us. Changes made include a styling upgrade, tweaks to the suspension, and of course engine mods that take the power to 750 hp. For this special edition a new Shebly logo has been used, it’s a silhouette of the legendary Ford man that’s easily recognisable thanks to the stetson hat he was synonymous with wearing. Buyers will also receive a branded black Carroll Shelby stetson as part of the package along with a Team Shelby membership, as well as a commemorative Shelby Centennial Book included with each car.
