HAAS F1 TEAM OFFICIALLY TERMINATES NIKITA MAZEPIN'S CONTRACT AND URALKALI SPONSORSHIP

Haas just announced that they are terminating Nakita Mazepin's F1 contract as well as the sponsorship by Uralkali with immediate effect as a result of the Russian Ukraine conflict.

The Haas F1 team has of the 5th of March 2021 has officially announced that the contract of the current Haas F1 team and teammate of Mick Schumacher, Nikita Mazepin has been cancelled as a result of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as well as the livery sponsorship of Uralkali.

Nikita Mazepin had this to say on his Twitter Feed:

"I am very disappointed to hear that my contract (with Haas F1 team) has been terminated. While I understand the difficulties, the ruling from the FIA plus my ongoing willingness to accept the conditions proposed in order to continue were completely ignored and no process was followed in this unilateral step" Nikita Mazepin added: "I have treasured my time in F1 and genuinely hope we can all be together again in better times. I will have more to say in the coming days."

Although this could have been no easy decision to make by the FIA, they had to stand together to ensure that the sport of F1 is seen in good light after the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. A few days ago, the Russian Grand Prix of 2022 was not only cancelled but any partnership with Russia in the future was also completely terminated.

Furthermore, the potash fertilizer producer and exporting company Uralkali had their 2022 Haas sponsorship contract completely terminated as a result of the current conflict too. The sponsorship branding has already been removed both of the Haas F1 cars as well as on the driver suits and helmets.

Haas admits that this decision is by no means temporary, but rather completely permanent.

That begs the question, who will be replacing Nikita Mazepin in the 2022 F1 season alongside Mick Schumacher in this year's F1 season? Although it has not been officially confirmed as yet, the chances of the Brazilian driver Pietro Fittipaldi will most likely be chosen to take on this role.
