LIBERTY WALK TAKES THE LAMBORGHINI URUS FROM WILD TO BONKERS.
LB Works, more commonly known as Liberty Walk, is one of the most well-known styling tuners in the world having reached the worldwide stage when the custom hand-built body kits started appearing on an array of classic and modern Porsches. This Kaizo (remodelling) is the ethos behind Liberty Walk, back in the old days in Japan, Kaido Racers styled their cars by removing bumpers, retro-fitting headlights from other cars and the most recognisable trait - the cutting and installing of overfenders that give a racecar look and feel and also allows fitment of wider wheels without getting in trouble with the law. Traffic laws in most countries prohibit tyres from sticking out past the fender. Adding to the Kaizo inspiration, Liberty Walk also takes inspiration from the completely mad Bosozoku style that originated in Japan. Bosozoku is associated with motorcycle clubs and gangs, although most who choose this style don’t have a background with these clubs and gangs. Cars in this style feature outlandish extended and exaggerated spoilers and wings.
The main man at LW Works is Wataru Kato and he would be the only one outfitting Porsches with LWB kits which is why they are so valued. The want was real, and in 2008 one of Kato-San’s friends wanted a mad bodykit like the Porsches were getting for his Lamborghini Murcielago, and so he obliged and LB Performance was created. Since then the company manufactures body kits for a select few cars, and the latest has just been shown and it turns the already aggressive-looking Lamborghini Urus into something borderline over the top. This new kit comprises a front lip, side skirts, a rear diffuser, a rear wing, a trunk wing, a bonnet and of course, widened fenders. This is all yours for a smidgen over R800 000 ($47 000).
