VOLKSWAGEN’S ID.4 JOINS FORCES KING KONG AND GODZILLA IN THE NEW EPIC MOVIE: GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE

Volkswagen’s new ID.4 joins forces with a pair of legendary Titans in the new Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire movie that’s set to become a blockbuster. Volkswagen is teamed up with Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment for the global debut of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire which premiered worldwide on the 27th March 27. This is a movie we cannot wait to see, monster movies are just brilliant. Besides the massive primate and oversized lizard, Volkswagen's new ID.4 EV has a starring role too. Volkswagen Headquarters and Volkswagen Japan, where Kong is a cultural phenomenon, joined forces to create captivating short-form content for social media platforms. This collaboration strengthens the brand's association with the film but also affirms its commitment to the global electrification of vehicles. It’s a great opportunity to get eyes on the new VW, especially when you factor in that since the release of the initial teaser trailer back in December 2023, it has amassed over 100 million views as anticipation for the blockbuster has been soaring. The excitement doesn't stop there though, Volkswagen's international marketing team, in collaboration with Volkswagen Japan, has cooked up some social media magic to complement the film's release. The campaign is made up of a trio of cleverly crafted clips; The Awakening, Need a Charge, and Coffee Run. They should transport viewers into the monstrous universe of Godzilla and Kong while offering a fun insight into the connection between the ID.4 and the legendary Titans. Leading the charge in this custom content series is Japanese actress and social media sensation Chikako Fukuyama, renowned for her role on the popular Japanese reality show Terrace House: Aloha State. Using both her talent and charm, Fukuyama will captivate audiences as they embark on an electrifying journey with Volkswagen and the Titans. In addition, the movie sees the return of some of the beloved cast members; Rebecca Hall, Bryan Tyree Henry, and Kaylee Hottle. Hopefully thanks to this amazing campaign. The Volkswagen ID.4 will join the ranks of human and monstrous protagonists, bringing its own charisma to the screen.

Imelda Labbé, Member of the Volkswagen Brand Board of Management responsible for Sales, Marketing and After Sales, said: “At first glance, one might wonder what the link is between an edge-of-your-seat, adrenaline-filled Monsterverse movie of such epic proportions, and the innovative, intuitive safe haven that is the ID.4. But it’s all about feelings, and emotive storytelling. As well as all the fast-paced monster action, the film has plenty of playful and heartwarming moments that really speak to us at Volkswagen. We collaborated closely with our Volkswagen Japan team on production to take the all-electric ID.4 closer to a broad group of customers in Japan and fire their enthusiasm for sustainable mobility.” The new movie follows up the showdown seen in Godzilla vs. Kong with a new storyline that pits the mighty Kong and Godzilla against a new colossal threat hidden within our world. The movie delves into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island. Previously you had to choose between the two monsters, some were Team Kong, others were Team ‘Zilla, but in this new epic movie, THEY JOIN FORCES! Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is once again directed by Adam Wingard and it stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns and Fala Chen. They’re all part of the, dare I say it, big picture and have become partners in an awesome media campaign. "In our exhilarating partnership with Volkswagen for 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,' we're thrilled to showcase the ID.4's electrifying presence on screen. This collaboration merges cutting-edge automotive innovation with the epic scale and expansion of our Monsterverse world, bringing new dimensions to our beloved characters and stories while working alongside an iconic brand,“ said James Ngo, Executive Vice President of Franchise Management at Legendary Entertainment.

Take a look at the YouTube video we mentioned above. There's a trio of short videos that have been created, and so far two have been released, but to make it even cooler we've added in the final trailer from the movie below them. If this movie doesn't get you fired up, then you need to let loose more and expand your imagination. We're watching it as soon as we possibly can: Volkswagen ID.4 @ GodzillaXKong (Episode 1) | Volkswagen
