Home / Social media / News / Did Travis Pastrana just pull off the best Hoonigan Gymkhana video ever?

Ken Block is my boi, I've been a fan for many years now thanks to his amazing viral Gymkhana series of videos with the Hoonigan Racing crew and the Hoonigan Media Machine. Moving him to the top of my list and securing that spot for almost ten years because was when I met him at one of the insane Gymkhana GRID events that was held in Spain when I was taken over there to attend and shoot the event. I was given the opportunity to drive with Vaughn Gitten Jr. in his RTR Mustang and do a one-on-one interview with Block, or interview Gitten Jr. and go for a drive with Block in his Fiesta. It was an easy choice, there’s not many people who get to drive shotgun with someone like Block, and also he’s not really much for talking. That meet, greet and drive was amazing, and as I mentioned it’s kept the man as my favourite show/stunt driver. I think that’s maybe changed a little after seeing Travis Pastrana attack Florida in his purpose-built 1980s Subaru GL wagon known as The Family Huckster.

Just the other day Ken Block launched the first of his new Electrikhana series of videos that saw him doing silly speeds combined with some mad driving in his Audi S1 Hoonitron. It was absolutely awesome and highlighted the potential of electric cars in the competition arena. That Audi is on a whole other level featuring the best of the best everything including all the latest technologies, but there was one thing desperately missing - a decent soundtrack. I don’t mean the music overlayed in post editing, I mean from the car. In this Florida edition of Gymkhana the soundtrack of the turbocharged EJ-based 2.4-litre boxer engine living on its 8 200 rpm redline is enough to make sure you have goosebumps for over ten minutes straight. Over and above that, Pastrana is more stuntman than race driver and so in this video we get to see some amazing stunts that most people wouldn’t have the kahoonas to try. Jumping big gaps and rail sliding the car is mad, and jumping a helicopter and then doing donuts with a US Army helicopter later on is next level stuff. It’s hard to pick a favourite scene, but it’s definitely not the part where you hear Pastrana hit the ground hard enough to do damage to his pelvis and insides.

Take a look at the YouTube video that shows off some of the coolest things Florida has to offer while Travis Pastrana throws the Family Huckster Subaru around like a red-headed stepchild in between cracking his hip and smooshing his insides: [HOONIGAN] Gymkhana 2022: Travis Pastrana Goes Berserk in Florida in a 862HP Subaru Wagon | Hoonigan
