THE ALL-NEW 677 KW, HYBRID-POWERED LAMBORGHINI TEMERARIO IS RECKLESS!

Automobili Lamborghini doesn't follow a strict, predictable timeframe for introducing new models, like some of the other well-known automakers, but the Italian supercar creator does have a few general patterns and factors that influence their release schedule. Lamborghini often unveils new models at major auto shows like the Geneva Motor Show (March), the Frankfurt Motor Show (September), or the Paris Motor Show (October). These events are prime times for major announcements in the automotive world, especially from elite automakers because those events attract the exact target market that Lamborghini wants to sell its cars to. Lamborghini also sometimes introduces special models or limited editions to mark significant anniversaries, especially in a proper round number anniversary year. For example, the Lamborghini Aventador was launched in 2011, the 50th anniversary of the brand, and a bunch of related special editions followed. Lamborghinis usually have a lifecycle of around 8 to 10 years, with mid-cycle refreshes or special editions chucked in between. The introduction of new technologies or significant design changes can also dictate when a new model is released, like when the Aventador introduced a new V12 engine and carbon fibre monocoque chassis.

This year we’ve seen a few new technologies being introduced, and that has led to the launch of the stunning new Revuelto, the company’s first foray into hybrid powerplants and it’s been received with much acclaim, as expected. Now, for the second time this year, the company has revealed an all-new model, the Temerario “The Temerario is a genuine ‘fuoriclasse’: a car in a league of its own, an extraordinary and innovative vehicle both from a technical and stylistic point of view,” says Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “Every new Lamborghini must surpass its forerunners in performance terms, while at the same time being more sustainable from an emissions standpoint. With the Temerario, we have completed a key chapter in the electrification strategy included in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan: we also become the first luxury automotive brand to offer a completely hybridized range.” The Temerario is an all-new model that is also equipped with a hybrid powertrain making it the second model in the Lamborghini High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) range. Well, third if you count the hybridised Urus. The main feature of the Temerario is the powerplant, it’s a twin-turbocharged V8 mated to three electric motors and it’s way up from the Huracan's 470 kW. In this new Lamborghini, power is rated at 677kW in total with 730Nm of torque. The twin-turbo V8 has been designed and developed from scratch in Sant’Agata Bolognese and is the first and only production super sports car engine able to reach 10,000 rpm. The performance is claimed to have a 0-100 km/h run in as little as 2.7 seconds with a top speed surpassing 340 km/h.
