FERRARI SF90 VS LAFERRARI DRAG RACE - BEST OUT OF 5 WINS.

Drag Times is back again to answer those niggling questions that red-blooded automotive fans ponder at 03:00am while browsing Tik Tok videos in an attempt to get tired and sleep. Well, this is one we’ve actually asked ourselves - which Ferrari would win in a heads-up drag race, the almost 10-year-old Ferrari LaFerrari or the latest from the Italian stable, the ridiculously awesome Ferrari SF90 Stradale? Automotive anoraks usually claim to have the answers simply by comparing the stats claimed by the automaker and also comparing the hundreds of videos online showing these cars driven in anger. The thing is, stats on paper are affected by the conditions on the day, the driver as well as the reaction times getting off the line. The latter is usually not too had to do, but with so much power on tap, there’s only so much that the on-board driver aid can help. To answer this question, the crew from Drag Times dipped into the amazing Triple F Collection’s feet and commandeered these two Italian beauties in the interest of science - and YouTube views.

In this multi-million dollar duel, it’s the limited number Ferrari LaFerrari that’s the underdog when looking at the specs. This hypercar is powered by a 6.3-litre V12 powerplant that has an electric motor mated to it to produce a stonking power output of 708 kW (950 hp) with torque rated at an impressive 900 Nm. All this power is sent to the rear wheels only, and the power is sent to the wheels through a 7-speed DCT transmission. The challenger, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is one of the Italian automaker’s fastest offerings, the claimed power figure comes in at an unbelievable 735 kW (986 hp) with 800 Nm of torque. In this car the power is sent to all four wheels and an 8-speed DCT transmission gets the power to the wheels seamlessly and stupidly fast.

Check out the footage, the results are interesting, enough so that the cars raced five times. While these Italians were having fun, there was also a Bugatti Chrion lurking around, and this thing churns out 1 103 kW (1 500 hp) from its sizeable 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16 work of art that’s often referred to as the most complicated engine setup ever. It does the job though. It would be interesting if the Chiron joined the little drag race test, huh?
